The Trinidad Scorpion (Rocalba) one of the hottest peppers in the world originating from the islands of Trinidad. Between its origin and the shape of the fruit, reminiscent of a scorpion sting, give the name to this natural bomb.
What would the primordial peppers think when they saw that their defense method, Capsaicin (the chemical compound that makes them spicy), would be the reason for their consumption. But from this strange veneration of humans towards this compound come powerful mutations such as the Trinidad Scorpion. Its Scoville Heat Units amount to 1,200,000. Its use in confectionery is very limited due to its powerful spiciness, but the fruity taste at the beginning means that painful sauces can be made and added to traditional spicy oil, for example.
The cultivation of Trinidad Scorpion is very similar to that of other hot peppers, the most essential is irrigation. But let's start with germination; it is best to do it indoors and at the end of February/beginning of March, since the last frosts will have passed.
When taking them out, it is best to go gradually, that is, certain hours during the day to get used to the outside climate. You will know that they are ready to transplant outside when they have between 4 and 6 knots and the outside temperature does not drop below 10 degrees. They will be ready when the pepper has turned from green to red, which is usually late summer/early fall.
