Hard Akadama Sakadama Substrate for Bonsai with small grain 3-5 mm (10kg)
The Hard Akadama Sakadama Premium Quality with small grain grain (3-5mm), a substrate endowed with ideal properties and characteristics for bonsai cultivation. It stands out for its hardness and absence of dust, in addition to its excellent properties for the management and care of bonsais.
Sakadama is an attapulgite type clay, a natural mineral of very low density, porous and with a large specific surface area, which undergoes a heat treatment in an oven at 600º. This manufacturing process makes it have excellent water and nutrient absorption properties, in addition to obtaining a substrate whose particles remain hard for longer, which allows the periods between transplants to be lengthened. These characteristics make this material ideal for bonsai cultivation with great cation exchange capacity, water retention and porosity.
Main features:
Absence of Dust: In the manufacturing process of Sakadama, additional screening is carried out, guaranteeing the granulometry of the product and the absence of the finest particles. Dust in bonsai cultivation is an unwanted material, since it blocks the drainage of the substrate, and promotes unwanted root asphyxiation and the consequent rotting of the roots.
Greater resistance: It is a material with exceptional hardness as a substrate property, a fact that makes it more resistant to handling, cultivation and degradation, which also allows lengthening the time between transplants. If pressure is applied to the grain, it will hold without breaking, unlike other bonsai growing substrates. On the other hand, recent studies show that Sakadama is more resistant than other materials to adverse climatic conditions, especially low temperatures and frost.
Free of pathogens and weeds: Sakadama undergoes, during its manufacturing, a heat treatment in an oven at 600°C. This process, apart from improving many other characteristics, eliminates any possible presence of organisms harmful to vegetables or weed seeds.
Excellent water retention: The characteristics of Sakadama, together with the entire manufacturing process, result in a material with excellent porosity and a large specific surface area, which results in a great water absorption capacity. and nutrients immediately available to the bonsai roots.
