Carolina Reaper is, according to the Guinness Record, considered one of the hottest peppers in the world since 2013 and in this case we offer you its seeds from Rocalba. On the scale where spiciness is measured, the Scoville scale, it can reach 2,000,000 UCS (Scoville Heat Units) similar to pepper spray.
This extremely potent chili was created artificially through a cross between a Red Habanero and a Bhut Jolokia by Ed Currie of the PuckerButt Pepper Company (South Carolina, USA). Like most great discoveries, Ed Currie, the creator, was not trying to create the hottest pepper in the world, but one loaded with capsaicinoids, a family of compounds that has been used in pharmaceuticals, useful even for certain cancer treatments or diseases. of the heart.
The Carolina Reaper is grown no different from other hot peppers. The most important thing to know is that temperatures cannot drop below 14 degrees, so you have to wait for the frost to end before starting to grow it. Its germination must be controlled between 28 and 30 degrees. If these requirements are met, it is a plant that does not usually cause too many problems in its cultivation. The ideal time for harvesting is between late summer and early fall, depending on how ripe the pepper is.
At first it has a sweet flavor, which contrasts with the inherent and ineffable spiciness. Even so, the initial sweetness makes it possible to make sauces with it. If we can't stand its spiciness, citric acid may be one of the few solutions to avoid traveling to hell after consumption.
