Orchids require very special nutrition and, although it is true that they can live with very low levels of food, they will only reach their full magnificence if they are properly nourished.

Orchids should not be fertilized with the fertilizers we use to feed other plants for several reasons. The most important is that the fertilizers used for other plants contain high levels of nitrogen in the form of ammonium and urea. These compounds can be quite toxic to orchids and that is the main reason why specific fertilizers should be used.

Orchid Focus does not contain ammoniacal nitrogen or urea, it is the ideal food for orchids to produce healthier and more vigorous plants and brighter and longer lasting flowers. There are two formulations, one for the growth phase and one for the flowering phase; the former promotes healthy shoot and leaf growth and the latter promotes spectacular blooming.

Virtually nearly all orchid and hybrid species will benefit from a regular feeding program. This will be especially important when preparing plants for sale or competition. The most commonly cultivated genera (Cymbidium, Paphiopedilum, Cattleya, Phalaenopsis and Dendrobium) will benefit from proper fertilization. They can be fertilized by the roots or by spraying the leaves.
