Onland pots may be the most appropriate irrigation system for growing in arid areas with very little humidity. Also for guerrilla cultivation or simply as a security method during a vacation. The characteristic small holes in the fired red clay are filled with microdroplets of water that escape from the interior directly to the root zone of the plants.
The roots grow around the clay pot fixing itself on the surface to suck the water they need when they need it. Moisture in the soil is always available to plants. A saving of between 50-70% of water can be achieved. Fertilizer spending is also reduced since by applying it in the pots we reduce the area of application and the plant takes it from the pot.
Clay pots follow the tradition of thousands of years with the same simplicity and efficiency. They are the preferred system for growers committed to the environment. Since the pots represent a simple technology system, friendly to nature, with zero environmental impact, which can easily replace other more complicated and expensive systems that consume energy.
They are designed with an elongated cone-shaped end at its base that serves to fix the pot to the ground. It is through this termination that water filters into the root zone. With this model it is not necessary to completely bury the pot, just drive it into the surface of the soil or pot until it remains immobile. Once fixed, fill with water and that's it. Soil moisture should be monitored and backfilled only when loss of soil moisture is evident.
Note: If we have very demanding plants or we grow in very dry areas, the system can be expanded by including more irrigation pots.
