The Habanero Red chile is the best known, used, and therefore most commercialized variety of hot peppers in the world. This is due to its powerful aroma, which can be reminiscent of exotic fruits, and its strong and acrid taste, which makes it highly adaptable to all kinds of dishes such as meat, fish, etc. It is usually used fresh, but there are a large number of recipes that use this hot pepper powder.
The spiciness of the Habanero Red is powerful, obtaining between 100,000 and 350,000 Scoville units. To get an idea of how spicy a Habanero can be, it would be between 40 and 50 times the heat of the Jalapeño, 10 times the Tabasco but at the same time 1⁄4 part the heat of the Carolina Reaper.
The cultivation of this one is not too far from that of other hot and non-hot peppers that can be had in the garden. The basic characteristics that must be taken into account are germination, irrigation, temperature and harvest.
The germination must be done at the end of February or at the beginning of March, this way the first frosts can be avoided since coming from tropical zones they are the main problem of hot chili peppers. Due to this reason they will require a high amount of irrigation and humidity, at least during their growth.
To harvest the hot peppers, it will be at the end of summer if you want them green and at the beginning of autumn, during the first frosts, if what you are looking for is the bright red that characterizes them.
